Summer Party Edition
The Hottest Ticket In Town

The V&A certainly know how to put on a successful exhibition, from “David Bowie Is” and “Hollywood Costumes” both selling out with high demand for late night openings, to their biggest yet… “Savage Beauty” opening last month with a star studded party and a record 70,000 pre-sold tickets.

These exciting exhibitions also offer an added dimension to private corporate events at the museum, with the opportunity to offer clients a private view. With high demand for the McQueen run, we were extremely excited to secure access to the exhibition for a client’s reception event.

The event will take place in the Dome, offering a stunning back drop for a reception party and with VIP access to the Savage Beauty exhibition this really is the hottest ticket in town right now. But never satisfied, we have taken the event to the next level and got creative with the catering tying it into the exhibition to make the event a true experience throughout.

Guests will be in for a true treat with Champagne flowing from the central bar, awash with up lighting and pin spot champagne glasses sparkling, a beacon in the centre of the Dome drawing guest’s eye to Dale Chihuly's famous chandelier. Canapés will then circulate served on selection of trays made of smart and stylish black and white perspex, black slate and walnut veneer decorated with a selection of stunning seasonal flowers that are in keeping with the surroundings of the venue and with a touch of the Savage Beauty throughout. The centre piece of this food theatre will be a London and Scottish food stall celebrating McQueen’s heritage and domination of the London fashion scene.

The food stall will be dressed with carefully selected McQueen props, using use ice, perspex and slate for the presentation of the food, with lifters and shelves to ensure the stall has the wow factor. With event acceptances at a record high, this client event will prove invaluable PR for our client who is wanting to make a splash and giving guests an experience they will never forget.

Featured Summer Destinations

Despite Group Se7en Events having numerous long haul events booked this year there are still many clients who are looking for something a little closer to home.

We’re often asked for relatively short travel time and the guarantee of nice weather so one destination that proves popular is the South of France and its French Riviera.
The South of France opens up a number of options to choose from without feeling that you’re picking the same place each time.

Take a look at our recommendations for this area as I’m sure there’s something that fits the bill for your next event perfectly.

Nice and Cannes

If your group is staying for 1 or 2 days then Nice is the perfect destination with the city centre being just 15 minutes’ drive from the airport and its neighbour Cannes a further 15 minutes’ drive. Nice enjoys an exceptional microclimate which is part of what the city is well known for. The city looks over the Mediterranean, but is protected from the wind by the backdrop of hills.

Cannes, recognised as a brand in its own right, is a complete destination and with everything being in walking distance both towns suit congresses, conferences and incentive groups alike by the range of facilities, hotels and activities that can be found there. Cannes also adds that touch of glamour to your event!

This is the essential destination for Southern Europe and a city that isn’t always at the forefront of your mind – but it should be.

As the second largest French City it is a great place for activities with so many areas to explore along its 57 kilometres of coastline. With 300 days of sunshine every year and an abundance of hotels it ticks all the boxes.

If you’re wanting to go all out to impress then Monaco is the place to do it. Dependent upon the time of year it’s not always for those with the higher budget so shouldn’t be a place that is automatically ruled out. With all the hotels walking distance from each other it really is the place to see and be seen.
A Hidden Gem

If you’re looking for something a little bit different why not head inland slightly to the artistic town of Vence. With beautiful scenery and some stunning properties such as the Relaix and Chateau there you’re close enough to the action but able to relax, unwind and soak up the atmosphere of France at its best.
Out and About

It has been a busy start to the year for G7 team, in fact our feet have barely had a chance to touch the ground, we’ve been jet setting all over with back to back events.

We kicked of the year quite literally with a client’s Kick Off in beautiful Budapest. Staying at the Boscolo in the heart of the city, the actioned packed two days included meetings, a celebration dinner and of course a visit to the famous Ruin Bars. Barely back to London, it was time to jet off to Monaco, for Confec Red hosted at the Fairmont Monte Carlo. The event started off in style with a helicopter transfer from the airport… really the only way to travel in Monaco! Three action packed days of successful networking and functions followed, ending with a day to relax in the sunshine.

Enjoying the luxury of the Fairmont’s roof top pool and a trip to The Hermitage for a relaxing massage before flying back to London. Back on British soil, feeling relaxed and ready for our client reception event at Royal Academy of Arts and then a conference at BAFTA, before heading international again for a ski incentive in Kitzbühel. The end of February saw us jetting off to Cannes for The Meeting Space at the famous Hotel Martinez with a whistle stop trip post forum seeing the coastline from both rib boats and helicopters.

Heading towards the end of March, it was all go with our client’s awards event at The Brewery. The pressure was on being the launch of a new awards and first venture for the client. But working together we created a spectacular event, and the first FinTech Innovation Awards was a total sell out, and has received high praise from event attendees and a special mention from the former CEO of Google who said it was the best awards event he had EVER attended.

From the city of London it was off to Marrakech to end the month in the style at the Four Seasons Marrakech for their Annual Four Seasons University. As a destination that is growing in popularity for incentive travel we were very keen to attend and experience it for ourselves… And we were not disappointed!! Marrakesh is a vibrant and fast paced city, and the Four Seasons has managed to capture the culture whilst also providing an Oasis of calm to relax and unwind away from the craziness of the city centre.

The three day event gave a unique insight into the Four Seasons Brand and invaluable networking opportunities for their properties right across the globe. We left Marrakech in love both with the city and all things Four Seasons, ready to come back soon with our clients.

With all that going on we made sure to still attended all the hottest invites including, BNC Global, The Roof Gardens, and the M&IT Awards a night to celebrate events and catch up with industry friends against the glittering back drop of Battersea Evolution.

Now heading into May there is no sign of thing’s letting up with events in Italy and Dubai fast approaching and not forgetting our client reception at the V&A with VIP access to McQueen… what a year it is shaping up to be!!

Andaz Liverpool Street : Competition

Proving to be popular with our clients this year is the Andaz Liverpool Street.

A five star luxury boutique hotel located in the heart of the City and bordering vibrant East London, Andaz Liverpool Street hotel opened as the Great Eastern Hotel in 1884. As one of London’s original railway hotels, the Andaz is housed in a beautiful redbrick Victorian building designed by the architects of London’s famed Houses of Parliament. Once inside today, it transforms into a 21st century masterpiece, a stunning blend of traditional and contemporary features throughout.

This month we are teaming up with the Andaz to offer you a fantastic prize of Brunch for two people in the Eastway. An East End brasserie in the heart of London’s business district, its open for all day refreshments and dining, serving a chef’s selection of classic favourites.

To win all you need to do is email info@group7events.co.uk or tweet us @Group7Events and tell us what year did the hotel originally open in under a different name?
Hot Picks

Its hitting 24 degrees outside and the sun is shining, this can only mean we are being inundated with Summer Party requests. Central London is brimming with beautiful venues but at this time of year we are all after the same thing – outdoor space. We’ve pulled together some of our top hits for Summer ‘15.

City Summer House

Situated on Brick Lane, the party capital of the East End, The City Summer House doesn’t shy away from its hipster roots. With unique brickwork and rustic metal furnishings making it the most contemporary inner city venue, as well as being steeped in History with its past being the old Boiler House for the Truman Brewery. The City Summer House will be available to hire for parties in June and July, holding up to 250 diners or 600 guests for a standing reception. Hi-tech AV kit means that conferences for 400 could also be accommodated. With its exposed brickwork and industrial surroundings it will make for lively setting.

Kensington Roof Gardens

Hidden on top of the old Derry and Toms (later Biba) department store, one hundred feet above Kensington High Street. This fantastic venue houses three fabulous gardens; traditional English, formal Spanish and Tudor. The English garden, with its wild woodland theme, appears the most extraordinary, considering its position on top of an office block. Over 100 trees (all of which are under a preservation order), a stream and garden pond with flamingos and ducks combine to create a magical environment that defies its unique elevation. Fountains, vines and palm trees define the Moorish idyll, while the Tudor garden provides a delicate contrast with roses, wisteria, ivy and leafy arches. This really is one of London's secret summer treasures.

The Ham Yard Hotel Roof Terrace

On the 4th floor of the Ham Yard hotel there is a large, leafy roof top garden with sweeping views over the London skyline. There is a lounge area scattered with Whitman benches, upholstered seating and a bar. Watched over by two ancient olive trees and surrounded by apple and pear fruit trees, the garden blooms all year round with seasonal flowers from poppies and lemon verbena to jasmine, creating a wild meadow. Raised beds made of railway sleepers and picket fencing form salad, herb and vegetable gardens, its produce served in the restaurant’s daily specials. The Roof Terrace at Ham Yard Hotel will hold 100 people for a fabulously relaxed summer reception.

Stationers Hall Garden Courtyard

Dating back to the sixteenth century, history and tradition are at the heart of London’s Stationers’ Hall. The Grade I listed building is located close to St. Paul’s Cathedral and offers a seamless blend of welcoming warmth and arresting grandeur. The recently redeveloped Garden is a private and secluded space. The Garden is dominated by an enormous plane tree which marks the spot where it is alleged heretical books, condemned by the ecclesiastical authorities, were burnt in Tudor times. Connected by a wrought iron staircase to the Court room but with easy access to the Hall and Stock room, the Garden is available for summer BBQs with a maximum capacity of 250.
